Alex M. Correa passed away at home on August 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family following a nearly 10-year battle with cancer.

He was born in Fresno on Nov. 17, 1943 to parents Trinidad Maldonado and Jesus Correa.

Alex graduated from Roosevelt High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army, where, among other jobs, he worked as a radio teletype operator while stationed in Germany. He was also a boxer while in the Army — honing fighting skills that would later help him bravely battle cancer. He was a fierce fighter to the end.

He had numerous careers throughout his life, most of them in service to others in the area of labor/union protections.

Alex was a specialist in labor law. He was a union agent for the City of Fresno, he had an extensive career with the Agricultural Labor Relations Board (state of California) and he was a labor law consultant.

He was a devoted father, grandfather and much beloved and fun uncle.

Alex was a gifted public speaker. He was a charismatic presence and beloved speech-giver. He was often the first person called upon to speak at family events — from weddings to reunions and even funerals — and could never pass up the opportunity to share his wit and humor with a funny story or two.

He was with his beloved Margaret for 27 years. Margaret cared for and nurtured him until the end, with their loyal dog Zorro never far from Alex’s side.

Alex loved Mexican music, and Margaret will miss but fondly remember how he sang to her Spanish as well as “oldies” in English — whether she liked it or not. He was extremely proud of his Mexican heritage, culture and the people he proudly embraced as “La Raza.” He was also an avid golfer who played whenever he could.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Jesus; his brothers, Manuel, Robert and Ruben; and his sisters, Linda and Mary Esther.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Correa; his sister, Connie (Case) Correa Maas; brother, John (Stella) Correa, sisters; Elizabeth and Juanita Correa and sister-in-law Angie Correa. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Correa, Alex (Diane) Correa, Jr., Joe Correa, Nick (Von) Correa, and Adrianna (Adam) Schrack. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and his beloved “buddy” Zorro.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2026 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 929 Harvard Ave, Clovis CA 93612. A reception is planned following the Mass with details to come.
