Alice Catherine
Angus
November 4, 1937 – April 21, 2021
With much sadness, we announce the passing of Alice Catherine Angus, 83, of Fresno, California, on April 21, 2021.
Alice was born on November 4, 1937 in Dingle, Idaho to John Woodruff Cook and Hannah Catherine Pederson. She graduated from Montpelier Idaho High School in 1956. At commencement, Alice received the Post 63 American Legion Award and the recognized as a member of the National Honor Society.
After high school, Alice moved to Boise, Idaho for a short time before eventually relocating to Sacramento, California. It was there she met William (Bill) Eugene Ogan while both were working at the Aerojet rocket plant in nearby Rancho Cordova. Bill and Alice would marry and have two sons: Matthew David, born in 1960, and James Patrick, born in 1961. The family would live briefly in the Bay Area before moving to Fresno in the spring of 1967, where Alice would reside for the remainder of her life.
In 1971 Alice married Donald Roy (Roy) Angus and became part of the large and loving family of the Freeman, Randall, and Angus clans. Roy and Alice would add a child to the family, Catherine Renee, born in May of 1974. Roy and Alice would spend years together working in beekeeping and farming two small plots of land in Riverdale and Fresno.
For many years, Alice worked as an administrative assistant for Blue Cross of California where she made many lifetime friends. When Blue Cross moved the office to Woodland Hills, Alice opted to remain in Fresno where her daughter was attending high school. Following a brief stay at Fresno State University, she worked the remainder of her career for the Fresno County Office of Education. Again, her kind demeanor and dedication to her work was admired by her colleagues and gained her many friends. After her retirement in 2007, she found much joy in visiting her children and grandchildren during holidays and visiting family in Idaho for extended periods of time.
Alice was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother with an unwavering faith in God and her Savior, Jesus Christ. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in many positions over her lifetime and was a valued member of her Ward choir.
She was predeceased by her parents and all her six siblings. She is survived by her children, Matthew David Ogan of Lawrence, Massachusetts; James Patrick Ogan and spouse Julie of Escalon, California; Catherine Renee Angus of Fresno, California; three grandchildren, Brittany Ogan Gillihan, Austin Ogan and Taylor Ogan; and four great grandchildren, Diesel, Lennox, Holton, and Piper Gillihan.
