Andrew Antranig Vartanian

February 8, 1931 – June 13, 2024

Andrew Vartanian was born February 8, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of 93 in Stockton, California.  Andrew was one of four children born to Moushag and Almast Vartanian.  Andrew moved to Fresno in the 1950's. He married Rosemary Chalabian in Fresno on May 16, 1959.  They had two children, Michael and Judi.

Andrew was a businessman his whole life.  He started Equity Investments over 50 years ago with his business partner, Peter Mamasian.  He greatly enjoyed the financial planning industry.  He retired at the age of 90.

Andrew enjoyed dancing with Rosemary, golfing every Saturday (he even made a hole in one), spending time with family and friends, being active in the Knights of Vartan including being a past Commander and participating in many Armenian community activities.  He served on the Board of Review for the Eagle Scouts for many years.  Andrew and Rosemary enjoyed being active members of the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church.  Andrew was a Deacon at the church for many years.

Andrew was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Vartanian in 2022.  Andrew is survived by his son Michael (Diane) Vartanian of Oxnard and his daughter Judi (Ara) Tekerlek of Stockton.  He is also survived by his grandchildren David (Kristi) Vartanian of Ventura, Danny (Julianne) Vartanian of Ladera Ranch, Ryan (Kanna) Tekerlek of San Jose, Kristi (Kyle) Vierra of Fresno, Audrey Tekerlek of Sacramento and 4 great-grandchildren, Carter and Drew Vartanian and Ellie and Barrett Vartanian.  He is also survived by his brother Harry Vartanian of Whittier.

The funeral service will be held at Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church, 3673 N. First Street, Fresno, CA on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:00 am, followed immediately by lunch at the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church Social Hall.
