Annabelle was born to her parents Lawrence Emershad and Rose Donabedian Emershad on December 2, 1929. They were farmers In Kerman, CA. She also graduated from Kerman Union High School in 1947.
Annabelle was born with a work ethic of her generation, she began working at the age of 15 at Chanel Bakeries on O street in Fresno. Upon her graduating high school she began to work as a stenographer at the State Division of Highways and eventually with promotions became a labor compliance officer with Cal Trans, culminating a career of 47 years.
She married the love of her life Dr. Robert Hlywa on March 22, 1958 until he passed in 1998 and she remained a widow thereafter.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling to the central coast playing golf and taking dance lessons with their friends. She loved cooking her intricate armenian dishes and knitting afghans for her family and friends. She was an avid mall walker enthusiast and card player.
Annabelle is survived by Janice Tozzi (sister), Richard Emershad (brother) and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Harold Emershad (brother) and Dr. Robert Hlywa (husband).
In her 94 years, those who knew her were inspired by her positive attitude and energy determination and perseverance to overcome adversities in life.
