Obituary

Armand J. Gougasian was born on February 26, 1938 and passed away on October 20, 2022 after a short illness. He was born in Porterville, CA, to Armen and Gladys Gougasian.  At a young age, the Family moved to Fresno, then Easton, where he graduated from Washington Union High School.  Shortly after graduation he joined the Army and was stationed in Puerto Rico.  Upon his return to Fresno, he attended Fresno State University and obtained his BS degree in Accounting and earned his CPA credential.  He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity where he met many life long friends.

He married Anna Kinoian and had two daughters, Kim and Karin.  In 1979 they divorced and in 1982 he married Sami Walsh. Armand worked as a CPA for Gary C Simonian & Company for over 30 years until his retirement in 2017.

Armand and Sami enjoyed traveling to the coast and took over 15 cruises all over the world.  He also enjoyed reading and watching sports.

Armand was a member of the Tigers Club of Sanger, Lions Club of Easton and Fresno Elks Lodge.  He also supported Armenian causes such as the Armenian Studies at Fresno State and Holy Trinity Armenian Church, Fresno.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Frances Tusan in 2020.  He is survived by his wife Sami, daughters Kim Holguin of Clovis and husband Gil, and granddaughter Claire, daughter Karin of Fresno,  Brother in Law Bob Tusan, nephews Jerry and Rob Tusan and wife Cynthia.  He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made in his memory to Fresno State Armenian Studies Program c/o Hye Sharzhoom or Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Fresno or your favorite charity.

A private service will be held at a later date.
