Berniece died peacefully in her sleep on March 8, 2007, in Fresno, CA. Her youth was spent caring for her large family in Iowa. She met her husband, Clifford Ruby, also a twin, in a dental office, and they married on her 20th birthday in 1939. They began farming and had their first two children in Sheldon, Iowa. Following a farm injury they left for LaJolla, CA. where their last two children were born. In the mid 50's they moved to Fresno, CA. She was a leader of many school PTA's, a Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church. Berniece was an active volunteer in The Garden House Tea Room, The First Presbyterian Church Thrift Shop, and Republican Women. During the late 60"s she could be seen on the Webster Webfoot TV show modeling clothes for Mode O Day and portraying "Aunt Berniece" on live TV daily. Berniece was the perfect grandmother to her eight grandchildren. She spent many hours playing cards and games with them and will be remembered for the silly gifts chosen especially for each one from the church thrift shop. Berniece and Clifford were fortunate to travel often during their retirement. They were loyal fans of FSU basketball and the Women's Softball team. She was an attentive sister, aunt and friend, and will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford Ruby, her slibings William, Raymond, Anna, Lloyd, and Glenn, as well as several loving brother and sister-in-laws, especially Connie Ruby.
