Betty Jean
Gant Cole
December 21, 1958 – January 30, 2022
Betty Jean Gant-Cole was born December 21, 1958, to Willie and Rosie Gant in Los Angeles, Ca. She was raised and completed her education in Cleveland, Ohio where she played flute and won numerous awards, accolades, and a college scholarship.
Betty gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at New Sardis Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH.
Betty moved back to Los Angeles in 1977 where she worked various accounting positions until she became the accountant for Cole Mack cleaning services, headed by her husband Allen Cole (who preceded her in death).
Betty joined Bright Star Church of God in Christ in 1988, under the pastorship of Elder Wesley Dickson, where she taught Sunday School, YPWW and graced the choir with her soulful tenor melodies. She moved to Hanford, Ca with her children in 1994 where she attended Mustard Seed Faith Christian Center Church of God in Christ under the direction of Pastor Paul Hall and Calvary Church of God In Christ led by Superintendent Oratio Smith (who preceded her in death). In September 2009, Betty was appointed to Evangelist Missionary through the Church of God In Christ. Betty loved spreading the word of God and assisting the church in any area she saw a need.
Betty worked in accounts payable for KB Toys and as an accountant for Cole Mack cleaning services, but her passion was always in education and with children. After relocating to Hanford, she worked at Pioneer Elementary School; the Kings County Probation Department in juvenile hall and the juvenile boot camp; she owned and operated Betty's Day Care and was a math tutor at Kings Valley Academy II, a Learn for Life education center. Betty enjoyed volunteering with her children's schools, Hanford NJB and Legacy AAU community-based sports programs. She loved the outdoors. One of her favorite things to do was camping trips and spending time near the water, but definitely not IN the water.
Betty was funny and loved people. She had a song for every occasion. She loved to sing. Her favorite song to sing was 'Walk That Milky White Way'. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and could be found in her jersey cheering and yelling for her Cowboys, even when they were losing. Betty's infectious laugh and beautiful smile will be missed by everyone who knew her.
After a brief illness the Lord called her home on a January 30, 2022. We know she is singing and dancing in that heavenly choir.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Rosie and Willie, sisters Ann, Janet and Debra, husband Allen and granddaughter Lakrisha. Betty leaves to cherish her memories 4 children Janessia (Nathanial), Allen, Raeshele, Gabriel and stepson Ricky (Kristine); 10 grandchildren Nailah, Seth, Allen IV, Alexandria, Rob Jr, Nathaniel Jr, Charles, Thomas, Amonney, Rayshawn; 3 great-grandchildren Dashaun, Uydayah and Uy'siaih; sister Jewel (Marshall) and brother Myron (Delores); 2 nieces, Janeece (Dwayne) and Terea (Muqtasid); 3 nephews, Damon, Myron Jr. and Ramon (Mica); a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins; spiritual children and grandchildren; and her church families of Philadelphia Ministries, Mustard Seed Faith Center, Calvary Church of God in Christ, and Bright Star Church of God in Christ.
