Boyd Daniel Jones died December 29, 2023.  He struggled with the effects of Alzheimer's/Dementia.  He
was born December 12, 1949 in Mesa, AZ to Gerald and Ella Jones.  He was the third child of seven born
to Jerry and Ella.  The family lived in various towns in Arizona until 1964, when they moved and finally
settled in Bakersfield, CA.
He attended West High School, graduating in 1968.  After high school Boyd attended Bakersfield Junior
College and worked at a gas station.  He married his high school sweetheart Deborah Jeanne Woodgates
on June 12, 1971 in Bakersfield, CA.  After marrying, the new couple moved to the Fresno/Clovis area,
where Boyd began attending and graduating from Fresno State.
Boyd went to work at Campus Chevron as a mechanic, eventually managing the station.  In 1980 he
changed jobs working as head mechanic at Clovis Garage.  In 1991 the opportunity arose to go to work
for Fresno County Fleet Services, where he was a Master Mechanic until his retirement in 2015.
Boyd was a devoted husband to Debbie and loving father to their daughters, Sarah and Emily.  He lost
the love of his life, Debbie, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer, on June 19, 2005.  He was
her help and stay through it all.  Never leaving her side and taking her to various appointments for
treatment, in Fresno and San Francisco.  They were married 33 years.
Boyd shared his mechanical skills, often helping others with maintenance and various repairs to their
cars.  He enjoyed camping and traveling to the mountains and coast of California.  His various hobbies
included:  model car building, stamp collecting, photography, and spending time with family and friends.
For several years before retirement and after, he became active square dancing, joining a local club.
Boyd married Edie Pettit in 2017
He is preceded in death by wife, Debbie Woodgates Jones; parents, Gerald Jones and Ella Burris Jones;
and sister Deborah Jones Zahner.
Boyd is survived by wife Edie Pettit Jones; daughters Sarah Flores (Roberto) of Torrance and Emily
Elizondo (Will) of Clovis; grandchildren Sylvia Flores, Leah Flores, Jonathan Flores and Anthony Elizondo;
siblings Byron Jones, Kathy Turner, Sally Massey, Jeanette McArthur and John Jones; and many nieces
and nephews.
A graveside service for Boyd is scheduled for 11 AM, Wednesday, January 10, 2023, at Grangeville
Cemetery, 10428 14th Ave, Armona, CA 93202.
