Carl Morris
Williams
August 17, 1933 – November 8, 2022
Carl Morris Williams was born in Birdtown Texas, August 17, 1933. His mother Delia was a strong, Christian woman who made sure the family attended worship. She'd yell out to her husband to hitch the mule to the wagon, and the family, usually minus dad, would go to Sunday meeting.
When Carl, also known as Red, was about 12, the family moved to Fresno, nine children and mom and dad all packed in a hired car. After high school, Carl, who was quite an athlete and ice skater, was invited to join the Ice Cycles international skating show, but the day's mail that included his contract also included his draft notice, and he served overseas in the U.S. Army. Seven brothers in that family served our country and none were injured, which he believed was miraculous.
Carl, who worked for a time as a trainer for the Fresno Cardinals, wanted to be a physical therapist, so he attended school, but couldn't get the appropriate classwork in Fresno, so he finished his degree and went to work full time.
He met his wife Judy through Judy's cousin, who was married to one of Red's brothers. Carl and Judy lived in a little one-bedroom house until their son Marty was born and moved to their present home when Judy was pregnant with their daughter Kelly.
Later Todd, who is now in the presence of the Lord, became part of the family. Carl was a strong man who put his family first and his strength held the family together. He worked for Sears for 25 years before retiring. He was dependable and worked hard at whatever he did. He was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian and later The Ark Christian Fellowship churches. He was friendly and straightforward and genuinely cared for others. He enjoyed golfing and golfed with a group of friends every week for years.
He was a loving husband and father, a good friend to many, and a man who lived out his Christian life with integrity.
He is survived by his wife Judy, son Marty and daughter Kelly, his grandchildren Elizabeth, Ian, Eric, Chase, Emily, Haley and Hannah, and five great grandchildren, as well as many friends and neighbors whose lives he touched.
