Curtis Blaine Garner
1957 - 2022
Curtis Blaine Garner, 64, of Fresno, California passed away on July 19, 2022. Curtis entered eternal rest from his residence in Fresno, California surrounded by family and friends.
Curtis was born on August 22, 1957, in Long Beach, California to Marvin Gleason Garner and Kathrine Jacqueline Zane. Curtis was raised in Hanford, California where he grew up on his grandfather's ranch, learning the importance of dignity, hard work and respect. He enjoyed the county lifestyle such as bull riding, fishing and hunting. He attended high school in San Jose, California.
Upon graduating high school, Curtis served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer receiving an honorable discharge. In 1986, Curtis met Sandra Boyajian Lynch at the famous 500 Club in Clovis, California. Some years later in 1991, a son, Cory Blaine Garner Lynch was born to them.
Curtis was a devoted father, involved in all aspects of Cory's life. He passed on the values he learned as a boy to his son Cory. While on vacations with family and friends in San Simeon and Lake Tahoe, Curtis shared his love for the great outdoors. He was an adventurous brave man who most notably spent two seasons as a Bering Sea Fisherman on the Northwestern in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. A profession seen in the television show, "Deadliest Catch." Among his adventures at sea, Curtis was a mentor to many young people. His Christian faith led him to care for many who benefited from the sanctuary he provided.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Kathrine, and his grandparents, Buford Gleason Garner and Ida Neomi Garner. He is survived by his son Cory, Cory's mother, Sandra and Cory's grandmother, Lucille Boyajian Lynch.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Sergio Huerta, our dear friend, who unselfishly cared for Curtis in his last years. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, August 20, at Saint Peter Lutheran Church. Curtis's wishes that donations and remembrances be made to Saint Peter Lutheran Church, 2550 Gettysburg Avenue, Clovis, California 93611.
