DALTON HOMER
DAHL
April 4, 1942 – April 12, 2026
Dalton Homer Dahl
April 4, 1942- April 12, 2026
Dalton Homer Dahl was born in Colby, Kansas to Frank and Tina Dahl. He attended a single school house in Mingo, Kansas before moving to California in 1951 where he attended Canal Elementary School. In 1960, he graduated from Kingsburg High. He attended City college for 2 years and earned a degree in Auto Mechanics. His first job out of college was working for PG&E. However, his love had always been with machinery, specifically cars. After PG&E, he worked as a Service Tech for Fresno Motor Sales and the Herwaldt and Kitahara dealerships. Then he retired and went to work for Bohner Lacefield boats. He was known as the boat whisperer because he always knew what was wrong.
His favorite place to boat was on the Delta, but Bass Lake was always his second home. Homer and Michelle met when he was 19 and she was 16 on Fulton dragging the main. Michelle introduced him to boating through camping at Bass Lake with her family. Homer used to be so scared of boating, he would wait to visit Michelle until all of the boats left. He bought his first boat in 1965 on his and Michelle’s first anniversary and his love of boats only grew.
Everyday, Homer enjoyed driving his golf cart to get coffee with his friends, breakfast weekly at buckhorns, and then a frosty immediately after at Good Old Days.
In his later years, he enjoyed getting together with family for barbecues, hanging with his grandchildren, and golf-carting around the neighborhood. His favorite dessert was Dalan’s homemade ice cream.
Homer was a man of faith who read his bible every morning at the kitchen table. He loved serving at his past church in Sunday school, meeting in Bible studies, and pruning their olive trees. He used to bbq at every one of his jobs and at Jolene’s Gymnastic meets. We hope he was known for his chef skills and potato salad.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Michelle Dahl; siblings Marlene Wilson, Ronald Dahl, and Deborah Gustafson; daughters Jennifer Richards (Dalan) and Jolene Mielke (Shane); nieces Cynthia and Sandra Wilson; grandchildren Aleigh Lewis (Parker), Zach Richards, and Tristen and Taylor Mielke; and great-granddaughter Murphy.
