Dr. Daryl W. Ruby, DDS
July 2, 1942 – June 18, 2025 Age 83
Dr. Daryl W. Ruby, DDS, passed away at the age of 83. He was born in Sheldon, Iowa, and moved to Fresno, California, as a child. He attended John Burroughs Elementary, Yosemite Junior High School, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959, where he served as Vice President of his class. Daryl earned his undergraduate degree from Fresno State, where he was president of the SAE fraternity, and went on to complete dental school at USC.
He served as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida before returning to Fresno to open his private practice in 1972. He practiced dentistry for 45 years and loved being a dentist. Daryl also volunteered his time providing dental care at the Poverello House.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time on the course with friends. He stepped away from the game for over a decade to coach his children's soccer and baseball teams and served as president of Fig Garden Little League.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Berniece Ruby.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Amanda; son, Garrett, and daughter-in-law Gabrielle; daughter, Megan, and son-in-law Rob; and grandchildren Lindsay, Trevor, Jett, Dylan, and Finley. He is also survived by his sister Barbara and brother-in-law Dale Blickenstaff; brother Steve and sister-in-law Margaret; and brother Jeff and sister-in-law Beverly. Daryl is remembered with love by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Pardini's on June 27th at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chooljian, Dr. Ghimire, Daryl's medical team, Everlight Care—especially Macie—and the Bristol Hospice care team for their compassionate support during his battle with COPD.
Forever remembered as a charming and quirky soul, Daryl combined bright humor and spunk with a gentle, caring heart and a strong devotion to family.
