David Terry
Lane
February 9, 1942 – December 29, 2025
David "Terry" Lane
Terry was born on February 9, 1942, in Stigler, Oklahoma, and left this world on December 29, 2025, peacefully surrounded by the love of friends and family (via in person, phone calls and Facetime).
He grew up in Chowchilla and graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1960. Over the years he made homes in Modesto, Hughson, and eventually Fresno, but no matter where he lived, he carried the same steady, grounded presence that everyone knew him for. When he moved to Fresno in 2014, he stepped fully into his "Grandpa T" era—a role he embraced with pride, humor, and a soft spot he never bothered to hide. His grandkids and great‑grandkids filled his days with noise, laughter, and purpose.
Terry worked hard his entire life. As a boy, he started out shining shoes and then milking cows. He became a meat cutter, worked for Producer's Dairy for a time and eventually spent 25 years at Leprino Foods before retiring. But the work never defined him—his spirit did. He loved being out on the water in his younger years, riding motorcycles, and in his 50s he even earned his pilot's license so he could take to the sky in ultra‑light aircraft. Whether he was flying, boating, or riding with his motorcycle buddies—who became more like brothers—he chased adventure with a quiet confidence that made you feel safe just being near him.
He is survived by his children: Terri (Alex), Leslye (Scott), and Todd (Kathleen). He also leaves behind his siblings John (Joanie), Sharon (Robert), and Ann (Joe); ten grandchildren; sixteen great‑grandchildren; and countless friends who became family along the way.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ford Allen Lane, Pauline Velma Lane and his daughter, Caryn Shontel Lane.
We will celebrate Terry's "Circle of Life" on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Harvest Church, 717 Robertson Blvd. in Chowchilla. It will be a day to honor the man who gave us strength, laughter, and a lifetime of memories.
