David Ray Marvin passed away the evening of May 25, 2022 at his home in Bakersfield, CA. David was 66 years old.
David was born February 2, 1956 in Tyler, Texas to Jack and Jo Marie Marvin. He was 1 minute older than his twin sister and had another sister who was 3 yrs older.
The family lived in Canton, Texas until his first birthday when they moved to Coalinga, Ca. David attended school there from kindergarten through jr college. He graduated from Coalinga Sr. High in 1974 and West Hills College in 1976. While attending high school David was on the Junior Varsity Football team his Freshman year and on the Varsity team his Senior year.
In 1977 David was hired by Shell Oil Company and was later transferred to Bakersfield in 1982. In 2018 David retired and stayed in Bakersfield with his many friends.
David enjoyed working on his car and completely rebuilt a 1952 Ford pickup that he later showed at Autorama events. He also enjoyed taking trips on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. David was loyal and loved his family and friends. He was someone you could count on if he promised his help.
David was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Jo Marie Marvin.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Denise Lewis and her husband Skip Lewis of Fresno and Deborah Sanderson and her husband Robert Sanderson of Fresno. He is also survived by 1 nephew, Jared Sanderson of Fresno and 1 niece, Jenae Sanderson Boyce and her husband, Mitchell Boyce, of Knoxville, TN, and their 2 children Kassie and Lucas Boyce. David also has many cousins in California and Texas.
David will be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial luncheon is being planned by his family for June 24 at Marie Callender's Restaurant in Bakersfield. Yost and Webb Funeral Directors of Fresno are handling the arrangements, with private interment at Belmont Memorial Cemetery in Fresno beside his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to American Diabetes Assoc. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Yost and Webb's website and signing the guest book
