Delma Charlene
Applegate
May 6, 1940 – May 28, 2021
Delma Charlene Applegate, age 81, passed away on May 28, 2021 in Fresno, CA. The transition to her heavenly home was peaceful and praise filled as she was surrounded by her loving family who celebrated her belief in God and promise of eternal life.
Delma Charlene Hale was born in Mena, Arkansas on May 6, 1940. She married the love of her life, Donald Gene Applegate in San Jose, CA on June 14, 1957. They started their life together in the Bay Area and moved to Texas when Donald joined the Army. As their family grew and Donald was discharged from the Army, the couple moved back to the Bay Area and then settled in Fresno, CA. Delma raised her children in the rural area of South Fresno (Bowles/Easton). As a farm girl at heart, she loved having acreage to raise animals, grow food, and room for her seven children to play freely. Delma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Family was her greatest joy and was extremely proud of the family her and Donald created. She would always quote Psalm 127:5 "Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them".
She was preceded in death by parents Thomas Oscar and Edna Pickett Hale, husband Donald Gene Applegate Sr., sister Doris Hale Evans, and brother Wayne Rufus Hale.
Delma is survived by; Melody Smith her husband Pat, her four children and four grandchildren; Donald Gene Applegate Jr. and his wife Tamara, and his seven children; Daniel Alan Applegate and his wife Kristy, his two children, two step-children, and two grandchildren; Deborah Dee Burroughs and her husband Gene, her eleven children, three step-children, 29 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; James Thomas Grant Applegate and his wife Shelly and his two children; Suzan Michelle Lang and her husband Nick, her three children, and eleven grandchildren; Harmony Joy Negrete and her husband Rudy, and her two children; sister Deloris Applegate; and many nieces and nephews.
