In 1976 Dolly Chin with her mother Ethel brothers Bill and Steven moved from Boston Massachusetts to Fresno, California. Dolly worked for Bank of America as a bank teller where she met her husband, Herman Quan. Dolly also worked for the 7-11 Corporation before coming to work for the County of Fresno Probation Department on November 29, 1993 as an Office Assistant at the 8th floor in downtown Fresno. In 1994, Dolly transferred to the Ashjian Educational Center (The Old Juvenile Hall on 10th Street and Ventura) working in the payroll department. In 2001, Dolly was promoted to Program Technician and worked on grants for the Probation Department. On 2002, Dolly was promoted to Probation Technician and was assigned to Automation (I.T.) until her retirement on August 12, 2016.
One thing everyone knew about Dolly, once she focused on a given assignment or project, she gave her all to complete it and was very meticulous on it being completed correctly and in a timely manner. Dolly continued this in all her hobbies some of which were Scrap Booking and making bracelets (beading) which she mostly gave away as gifts. Dolly's other past hobbies were visiting Chukchansi Casino, her favorite past time was traveling to the coast to either Pismo, Morro Bay, Yosemite N.P. and of course Las Vegas.
Five years ago, Dolly was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was informed that she had about 2-3 years to live. Dolly's response to the doctor – I'm not going anywhere for a long time – the doctor laughed. Dolly's strength and tenacity showed and proved she was a fighter.
Dolly is survived by her mother Ethel, brother Steven, daughters Karen and Christine – husband David, son Richard – wife Stacy, step-daughter Charlotte, nieces Avangeline and Annabelle.
