In Loving Memory of

Dolores I. Montoya

(01/24/1940 - 11/04/2024)

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the beautiful life of Dolores I. Montoya, lovingly known as Lola and Nana. Born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, Dolores departed this world peacefully in her Fresno, CA home, surrounded by the warmth of her beloved family.

Dolores was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Jimmie R. Montoya, and her loving parents, Irene and Jose Garcia. She is also reunited with her dear siblings, Joe, Sylvia, and Vivo, who now welcome her with open arms.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her devoted siblings, John (Manuel) and Marian Garcia, and Martha and Chester Neal and Eddie Garcia. Her children—Rudy Garcia, Donna Placensia and husband Harold, Lorene Alvarez and husband Ralph, and Renée Getty and husband Jim—carry forward her spirit. Dolores adored her grandchildren, Lisa, Joseph, Nicole, Monique, Brittnie, Priscilla, Stephen, Jazmine, Julian, Mariana, and Michael, along with their partners. She found immense joy in her great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, creating countless cherished memories with them and her many nieces and nephews.

Dolores attended Edison High School and continued her education at UC Davis while lovingly raising four children. Her work ethic shone brightly throughout her career, especially during her 32 years at the County of Fresno, where she retired as a Supervising Office Assistant. Dolores faced life's challenges head-on, always dreaming of returning to work even after her stroke. Her determination and dedication are a source of inspiration for all who knew her.

Dolores was a vibrant spirit, known for her infectious laughter, love of music and dancing. She could light up any room and was happiest at home, sipping coffee and enjoying a good book. After her stroke, while some things became more difficult, her love for coffee never wavered—sometimes indulging in an entire pot herself!

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her great-grandchildren, whether they were playing dress-up, engaging in imaginative games, or simply dancing to their favorite songs. Dolores was truly a treasure, and her love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.

We invite you to honor her memory during the viewing on November 14, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Yost & Webb Funeral Home, 1002 T St, Fresno, CA 93721. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706, near the Garden of Apostles section 705. There will be a small reception for family at 1 PM.

Dolores I. Montoya was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
