Reflections of his Life

Eugene Hand Sr. was born January 3,1947 in Bakersfield California, to the parents of Charles Hand Sr and Bobby Jean Hand.They also had a second son Charles Hand. In 1947 Charles Sr tragically passed away from a car accident. Leaving Bobby Jean to raise two boys on her own. In 1948 Bobby Jean married Huelon Lyghts and the family moved to Oxnard in 1951. That's where Eugene Hand Sr. became the second oldest of fourteen children and the family united with the Morning Star Church of God in Christ.

Eugene Sr. attended grammar school in Oxnard, and then he and his brother Charles were sent to live in Shafter California with their Grandparents, Fletcher and Lenora McDaniel. They worked on their farm while attending High School. He graduated High School in 1965. His first 3 children were born from a union with Theresa Wimbley, Jeffrey, Sean and Regina Hand.  He later married Carolyn Hand and to that union was born, Aqueelah and Eugene Hand Jr. He later married Joselyn and was preceded in death by her, from that union he gained a son and daughter Clarence and Elizabeth. He then married Harriet Hand and gained five more  Bonus children.

From these unions he has the following Grandchildren,Tashante, Mercediz, Courtney, Makayla, Marcus, Jaylin, Mekhi, and a host of great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Eugene accepted Christ and became an ordained Elder. He loved to teach and listen to the word of God. Listening to gospel music  cooking,and baking were some of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed playing chess and checkers.He was also a hard worker, he owned his own buisness "Hands Janitorial."

Eugene was a loving Husband,Father,and Grandfather.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Charles Hand Sr, Huelon Lyghts Sr, Bobby Jean Lyghts, His brother Kenny Ray Lyghts and Charles Hand. His son Jeffrey Hand.

Eugene leaves to charish his memory, eleven siblings Marie Goodeau, Linda Reynolds (Howard), Barbara Franklin, Debra Bassett (Langston), Gary Lyghts (Laura), Huelon Lyghts (Linda), Calvin Lyghts (Hadassah), Eric Lyghts (Rachel), Stacy Glover, Terry Lyghts, Corey Lyghts (Manda), and a host of neices, nephews, friends, and dedicated caregivers.

Eugene will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. He never met a stranger.
