Fred William Buchnoff

June 8, 1927 – August 21, 2021

Fred William Buchnoff went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on August 21, 2021 at age 94 in Madera, California. Fred was born on June 8, 1927 in Kerman, California to Vasillii Timofevich Buchnoff and Masha Andreevna Koretoff Buchnoff, the youngest of eight children.

Fred grew up on the family farm helping to raise animals while working hard contributing to providing daily necessities. He valued the Russian community and made life-long friends in the Kerman, California area while growing up. Canine companions were by his side on the farm including the family's childhood dog "Snooks" who once intervened when a rattlesnake was nearby.

Fred met his wife, Anna M. Makshanoff Buchnoff, at a wedding in Los Angeles, California. Knowing that he found the love of his life, after a brief, long-distance courtship, they married on October 28, 1951 in Los Angeles. They worked on their farm and began raising their family in Madera, California mainly growing grapes and raisins for harvest and would have been married 70 years this October. Fred and Anna traveled together exploring Alaska, Israel, Russia, and Italy enjoying each-others company along the way. He loved spending time with his family including his grandchildren and great grand-children.

A neighbor, Mr. Perkins, shared the Gospel with Fred and Fred accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was in his thirties. He valued his relationship with Jesus sharing the Gospel's good news throughout his life and teaching bible study classes. Fred was known for making friends with people in all aspects of his life whether through farming, church, or travelling. He and Anna provided hospitality and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

Fred is survived by his wife Anna. He is preceded in death by his son Fred "Freddy" Buchnoff Jr. He is survived by Freddy's wife, Pam, son Martin Buchnoff and his wife Beverly, daughters Kathleen Kirn and her husband Michael, Annette Buchnoff, Manya Waggoner and her husband Derek, granddaughters Sarah Heisdorf and her husband Joe, Alyson Brown and her husband Michael "Chip", and Bethany Buchnoff, grandsons Mark Buchnoff and his wife Carolyn, William Buchnoff, and Erik and Kevin Waggoner, great-granddaughters Juliette and Madeline Heisdorf, and Summer Brown, great-grandsons Phillip and Reed Heisdorf. And Lucky. He is also survived by his sister Mary Nazaroff.

Fred was caring and generous and his family greatly misses him. To our "Daddy" and "Deda", because of Jesus's promise in 2 Corinthians 5:8, knowing that you are "absent from the body and . . . at home with the Lord." With much love, until we see you again.
