George was a graduate of South Gate High School in South Gate, CA where he participated on several athletic teams. George had a passion for all things growing both plants and animals.  He loved his home flower and vegetable garden. He raised sheep, homing pigeons since he was a teenager, and was a member of the Fresno Racing Pigeon Club.

George mentored several of his landscaping employees into landscaping businesses of their own.  When most landscaping business owners would want to limit their competition and keep their best employees George helped them to start their own routes by financing trucks, mowers, and equipment of their own.
