Gladys Irene Kerfoot Obituary

Gladys Irene Kerfoot, at the age of 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 12, 2026. She was born in Bakersfield, California, on November 21, 1927, to Allan and Jewel Cameron. Gladys grew up in Culver City, California, and attended Culver City Grammar School. She graduated from Hamilton High School in Los Angeles in 1945. She attended UCLA, where she met her future husband, Tom Kerfoot. They were married on June 11, 1948 at Community Baptist Church in Hermosa Beach. They both transferred to Biola College and graduated in 1952.

Gladys taught elementary school in Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, La Puente, and Fresno, where she was a founding teacher at Fresno Christian School. In total, she taught in various capacities for 62 years.

Gladys loved teaching children, and enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, parents Allan and Jewel Cameron, and siblings Allan and Lorene. She leaves behind daughters Christine Kerfoot, Kimberly Schapansky, and Kerry Munson and her husband Jeff, as well as six grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Bridge Church, 3438 East Ashlan Avenue in Fresno, California, on Saturday, February 14 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys' honor to Hume Lake Christian Camps or Fresno Christian School.
