Hans was born May 6, 1942 in Heidelberg Germany to Walter Berger and Elizabeth Schaelake. Hans had three older sisters, Roesel, Margarete and Erika.
Hans grew up in beautiful Bavaria near the foot of the Alps. In 1957 his family immigrated to the USA settling in Denver Colorado. After graduating from high school Hans joined the US Navy. He spent two adventurous years aboard the USS Carpenter stationed at Pearl Harbor. Hans attended the University of Colorado before moving to California. Hans worked at Valley and Lauks bakeries. He married Judy Wiest and from that union sons Jeffrey and James were born. Hans was a salesman and his career included selling encyclopedias, gourmet foods, Levi's and police equipment. He also was a certified trainer for breath alcohol instruments and radar. In 1994 Hans met and married Jeanette and became the stepfather to Norman and Brent Rogers. After Hans retired he started a new career as an author and artist. Hans published books are A Bridge to Cross and New Bridges to Cross. Hans loved people and never met a stranger. He always looked for something good in everyone. He shared the love of God with everyone he could. Hans was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elizabeth and stepson Norman. Hans is survived by his wife Jeanette. Sons Jeff and James, stepson Brent, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
