SFC (Ret.) Harold Bert Kramer aka "By the Book Kramer"

SFC (Ret.) Harold Bert Kramer, a veteran of the Vietnam War, died peacefully with his wife by his side on December 4th, 2021, in Fresno, California at the age of 85.

Harold was born on September 15th, 1936, in Dresbach, Minnesota to his father John and Verna (Kramer). Harold quickly found his love for working and serving others and he committed his life to serving his God, country, and the communities he lived in. He joined the USMC at a young age and soon after transferred into the US Army. After 10 years of service, he continued to serve as a Police Officer and later as a Sheriff's Deputy in Washington State. Harold returned to military service when he joined the Washing State National Guard and entered Federal Civil Service. He retired at the age of 60 with 20 years of military service.

Harold was happily married to Margaret Jean who was his wife and partner in life for nearly 48 years at the time of his death.
Harold is survived by his wife, their sons Kevin, Kyle and his wife Heather, and Harold Jr., his grandchildren Brandi and her husband Jeff (Tarabochia), Kaleb, Kylie, Kayla and Kyle Jr., his great grandchildren Kylee, Brynn, Kimber and Julie, his sister Lilah and her husband Walter (Bartz) and many extended family and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Irvin, and Elmer and his wife Alice, his sisters Olive and her husband Eugene (Hoffmann), Lola and her husband Bill (Schafer), Joy and her husband Gordon (Charles), and his grandson Kenneth "Kenny" Kramer.
Harold's family gives many heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Heritage Crossing Care Center and Yost & Webb Funeral Home for their compassionate care of Harold and his family.

A service officiated by Pastor Marc Unger (Military Chaplain, Ret.) to honor Harold's life and military service will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at 32053 W. McCabe Rd. Gustine, California on December 29th, 2021, at 2:00 pm.

In remembrance of Harold's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.
