Havis Collins Nelson
1946 - 2024

Havis Collins Nelson, 78, of Fresno, California passed away on July 21, 2024 at Heritage Crossing Care Center in Clovis, California.

Havis was born on April 27, 1946 to Richard and Annie Mae Nelson in Pinebluff, Arkansas.  He has lived in Fresno, California for 65 years. Havis practiced as an occupational therapist for over 20 years

Havis loved to go fishing and was the Chef of the family as a cook and BBQ enthusiasts and, he excelled in track sports when he became a State Discus Champion.

He faithfully attended the Westside Church of God and he proudly served his country in the US Army serving in Vietnam where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.  He was a rifle marksman and a pistol expert.

He is survived by two sons, Jabarri Jammal Nelson and James Vincent Nelson.

Visitation will be held on August 9, 2024  from 10;00 am to 11:00  followed by the funeral service with Dr. Paul  L. Binion officiating at the Westside Church of God and US Army Honors presented by the California Army Honor Guard.
