Herbert LaVern Comstock Jr. was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully in the arms of his loving wife at home in Clovis, California, on January 20, 2022 at age 87. He was born to Herbert and Fern Comstock on October 12, 1934 in Miles City, Montana. At a young age, he moved with his family to Port Orchard, Washington where he graduated from South Kitsap High School on June 6, 1952.
He played multiple brass instruments and his love for music continued to bring him joy throughout his life. After high school he could be found racing around in his '56 red corvette convertible until he was drafted into the US army in June 1957. He honorably served his country in the US Army and US Marine Corp. Towards the end of his military service, Herb met his future wife Myrna. They were married on October 26, 1960 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.
Herb enjoyed a lengthy career as a civil engineer for the State of Utah, US Department of Agriculture, and the county of Madera. His fire duties while working for the Forest Service included areal infrared imaging to identify wild-fires hot spots.
For Herb, his life was his family. Telling jokes and stories to those he loved brought him joy. His humor remained until his last days. His eyes would always light up every time he saw his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his children but loved his grandchildren even more. He always said, "Do you know who my favorite grandchild is? It's the one I am with right now". Serving others in his many church responsibilities was another joy of Herb's. One of the highlights of his church service, was serving a mission with his wife at the Fresno Bishops Storehouse. His love and unconditional acceptance touch countless lives.
Herbert is survived in death by his eternal companion Myrna Jeppson Comstock, his only brother Samuel Timmothy Comstock, his five children, 22 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
