Hilda
Fuller
January 21, 1931 – December 22, 2020
Hilda Kopp-Fuller, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was born in Neukrausendorf, Poland on January 21, 1931 to Wilhelm and Natalie Kopp.
Hilda moved from Poland to Germany in 1944, along with her parents and 5 siblings in March, 1944. She lived in Germany where she worked as a nurse in Karlsruhe. It was here that she met the love of her life, Ronald W. Fuller. Ron was in the army stationed in Karlsruhe. Neither one could speak the other's language so they communicated by drawing pictures. They spent all their time together until it was time for Ron to return home to the States. In 1957, Hilda boarded the Arosa-Sun passenger ship and sailed from Bremerhaven, Germany to Quebec, then took a train to Montreal and eventually landed in Toronto. Ron and Hilda kept in touch, until Ron drove to Toronto to bring her to the USA, and to Fresno, CA. They married on October 24, 1959 and spent their lives loving each other and raising their daughters, traveling around Europe and many other places until Ron passed away in December, 2009.
Hilda was an avid gardener with an amazing green thumb. She could make anything grow. She took care of her yards and only hired someone to mow the lawn. The backyard, with its beautiful white water fountain, was her canvas. She had roses of all colors, a Rose of Sharon tree in honor of her daughter, poppies, succulents, a giant avocado tree that she grew from a pit, and many other flowering plants. Some of her happiest times were in her garden.
Hilda also took great pride in keeping her house clean. She had her regular weekly chores and never veered from it. Her kitchen floor was clean enough to eat from it. And don't even think about wearing shoes in the house!
Hilda was also a fabulous baker. She had a sweet tooth and was always baking cookies or cakes or some other delicious dish. Many times, she would provide the dessert at church functions or get-togethers. She would make enough to share but always kept some to enjoy at home.
Hilda is survived by her eldest daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Steven Jebb of Clovis, her younger daughter and son-in-law, Nancee & Varick Smith of Fresno, grandson, Trevor Gonzales of Key Largo, FL, granddaughter, Jennifer Gonzales of San Jose, CA.
