James Frank
Roveto
December 2, 1949 – August 22, 2023
James "Jim" Frank Roveto passed away suddenly on August 22, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born on December 2, 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Fresno, California.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Angela "Angie" Roveto; his children Jonathan Roveto [Christina Tabor], Christine [Adam] Magallanez, and Diana Rivera; his grandchildren Erica [Jimmy] Whitehead, Devin [Blanca] Reyes, Francis Reyes, Nick Reyes, Mikayla Davis, and Esther Tabor; as well as 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joanne [Alan] Berry, brother Vincent "Vince" Roveto, and uncle Robert "Bob" Aiello, and many other relatives.
Upon graduating from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in English, Jim started working for the Fresno County Department of Social Services. Whether you knew him through his 30 years of work for the county or because he prepared your taxes, his positive attitude and excited spirit, happy to talk to anyone about anything, shined brightly. Jim loved crossword puzzles, cruising in his Mustang on the way to the golf course, and time with family, even if it involved driving across the country. He developed a love for Georgia Tech when Jonathan enrolled, but could tell you about almost any college in the country. The same thing applied to history, and almost any other topic. Jim loved watching documentaries, old western movies, and educational programs about everything under the sun, and never stopped learning.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, September 11 at Yost & Webb Funeral Home (1002 T St, Fresno, CA 93721). A funeral mass will be held in his honor at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 12 at the Shrine of Saint Therese (855 E Floradora Ave, Fresno, CA 93728) followed by burial at Belmont Memorial Park (201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706).
