Obituary

Jane Gamoian danced peacefully into heaven on October 13, 2023, at the age of 90 years young. She was a beloved, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jane was the oldest of two daughters born to Ara and Anna Der Hairbedian on November 27, 1932, in Fresno, CA.

She attended local schools where her passions for music and dance flourished. She took tap and ballet classes and sang in the Saint Paul Armenian church choir. Upon graduating from high school Jane began working in the family business, David and Sons Inc., as secretary to her grandfather, David Der Hairbedian.

Jane was a member at St. Paul Armenian Church and upon marrying Pete Gamoian at 22-years old became a member at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church.

She was very active in many organizations including Eastern Star, Daughters of Vartan, Shriners Temple Bells, Daughters of the Nile, Red Hat Society, Holy Trinity Armenian Church Ladies Guild, and the Armenian Home Guild. Jane served as worthy Matron of Ft. Millerton Chapter of the Eastern Star, Temple Dancer, and Pageantry Director for Daughters of the Nile. She also received several grand appointments including Grand Representative to Saskatchewan, Canada.

Jane grew up learning the art of Armenian hospitality and entertaining. She carried this with her throughout her life. She loved entertaining friends and family every chance she got. Nothing could keep her from spending time with those she loved, whether it be in her home, at a kef, or an Armenian Picnic.

When she wasn't socializing and spending time with loved ones, Jane was traveling coast to coast and around the world. She loved a good adventure, and those adventures are what led her to the many friends she met and held on to through life's journey.

Jane is survived by her sons Jon Gamoian and Enoch Gamoian, and his wife Carla; granddaughters Tacie Avedikian, and her husband John R. Avedikian, Tara Gamoian, and Anna Gamoian; great-granddaughters Mia and Evie Avedikian; sister MaryAnn Hokokian, and her husband Ed; and many nieces and nephews.
