February 21, 1937 - December 20, 2024

Fresno, California – Jennie Avila Martinez passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at the age of 87. Jennie was born on February 21, 1937, in the small town of Laton, California to Juan and Micaela Avila. Jennie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jennie graduated from Laton HS in 1955. After a long and dedicated career in education, she retired as a Special Education Assistant with Fresno Unified School District. She worked at Norseman Elementary, Scandinavian Middle School, and McLane High School. Her husband, José, and her five children were the center of her life. Jennie was a soccer mom, little league score keeper, band booster, and proud supporter of all her children's activities.

Jennie is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, José. She is survived by her five children, Gloria, Joseph, Frederick, Richard, and Olgalisa. She is also survived by her siblings, Veronica, MaryLou, Mickey, Angelina, John, and Joseph. Jennie's legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Joseph, Jonathan, Davi, Frederick, Victoria, Analisa, Celena, Isabella, and Katerina, as well as her great-grandchildren, Oliver, Rylah, Adelina, Stella, Frederick, Alessandra, Isaiah, Sterling, and Summer. Jennie adored her family. Her legacy of love and connection will be profoundly missed, but her influence will remain the foundation for the family forever.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jennie's life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at The Clovis Cemetery, 305 N. Villa Ave., Clovis, CA 93612.
