Joe Gil Gomez, 89, of Mendota, California passed to Heaven Saturday, December 15 at Clovis Community Hospital.

Joe was born in King City, then moved to Mendota at a very young age. He attended grammar school in Mendota and high school in Tranquility. Joe met Helen Mendoza in 1940, while attending grammar school in Mendota. They married in January of 1953, when Joe returned from serving in the Korean War. Joe is survived by his wife Helen M. Gomez of Mendota, his two sisters, Natalia G. Gallardo of Mendota and Amelia Coronel of San Jose, his three children, Joe M. Gomez, Fernando M. Gomez, and Cristina G. Martinez, all of Mendota, and three grandchildren, Patricia Martinez, Justina Martinez, and Emily D. Martinez.

Joe will be missed by his family and by his closest friends.
