Jonathan Dolphas
Trotter
June 13, 1974 – December 25, 2024
Jonathan Dolphas Trotter went peacefully into the arms of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday December 25, 2024, after years of struggling with medical issues. Jonathan believed in Christ as His Lord and Savior.
Jonathan was born in Fresno, CA on June 13, 1974, to Dolphas Windell and Shirley Ann Trotter. He was the youngest of two children. Jonathan attended Sanger High School where he excelled academically and started the first Black Student Union on campus, where he served as President. He thrived athletically, participating in football, baseball, and track and field. In football he was named first team all NYL and was part of a select baseball team that played in Australia. He graduated from Sanger High School on June 12, 1992, as a Scholarship Recipient, High Academic Scholar and a California Scholarship Federation Life Member.
Jonathan went on to attend Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he continued his academic and athletic streak, majoring in engineering and playing for the Cal Poly football team. As a walk-on, Jonathan redshirted his first year in 1992 and played nine games in 1993, eventually becoming a starter and earning a D1 scholarship. In the 1994-1995 season, he was a fist team All-American West Conference pick and lead the team as a senior in 1996 with 88 tackles. Jonathan finished his career as team captain in his last two years, he earned two All-Conferences, and finished his football career with a total of nearly 275 tackles with a special game that included three interceptions.
While a student-athlete at Cal Poly, Jonathan earned a degree in Electrical Engineering, Cal Poly's most challenging major and he landed a six-month internship with Logical Services in Santa Clara before graduating. After graduating, Jonathan obtained six formal interviews before deciding to work for Xilinx in the illustrious semiconductor industry as a materials engineer, where he received a signing bonus. He officially graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering on December 12, 1998.
At Xilinx he was promoted to Engineering Manager in his first six years of employment. Jonathan was a talented cook and BBQ extraordinaire. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, dancing, and watching his favorite football team, the Washington (Redskins) Commanders. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family as a father of two boys. Their achievements were his greatest success.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dolphas Windell and Shirley Ann Trotter and leaves to celebrate his wonderful life by his sons Kaisei Jonathan Trotter and Youzen Dolphas Trotter of Belmont, CA, his sister Della J. Caver of Clovis, CA, niece Briaunna D'Nae Caver of Clovis, CA, Godmother Deborah L. Burnley of Antioch, CA, and God sister Monique Hughes of Oakland, CA. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, family, and friends to cherish his memory.

To be as much as we can be, we must dream of being more."
