Jose L
Castro
July 3, 1959 – March 30, 2021
On Monday, March 30, 2021, Jose "Joe/Joey" Castro , passed away at the age of 61 from a month-long battle with COVID-19 in Fresno, CA.
Joey was born on July 3, 1959 in Red Bluff, CA to his parents, Juan Castro and Socorro Padilla. He and his 11 siblings were raised in Fresno, CA. Joey attended Roosevelt High School and in 1990, he welcomed a daughter, Bridgette. Joey attended Advanced Truck Driving School in 2001 where he later started his professional career as a Truck Driver in 2004. In 2008, he welcomed his first grandson, Jayden. Soon after, Joey met his lifelong partner, Julie, in 2010 where he gained more children and grandchildren.
Joey was a hard worker. If work required him to work seven days a week, he would. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching old Western movies and shows, listening to oldies (especially Art Laboe), recycling, and fixing things. If something was broken, he was going to find a way to fix it or use it for parts. He would often wear a t-shirt that read "If no one can fix it. Papa Joe can."
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Castro and Socorro Padilla, siblings Frank, Ruben, Fernando and Robert.
He is survived by his daughter Bridgette and grandson Jayden; girlfriend Julie and her children Shannon, Ashley, and Eddie and grandchildren Jessica, Andrew, Tommie, Nathan, Nevaeh, Dakota, Jason, and Chancelyn; and his surviving siblings Pauline, Pete, Elena, Lupe, Johnny, Dolores, and Eva.
The funeral mass will take place on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:30am at St. John's Cathedral at 2814 Mariposa Ave Fresno, CA 93721 and is open to all.
The burial service will immediately follow at Belmont Memorial Park. However, due to COVID-19, the burial service will be held privately.
