Obituary

On Saturday, February 20, Judy left us for her heavenly home and into the arms of Jesus.  She was 90.  Her five children were with her in her last week while under hospice care at Samaritan Village in Hughson, CA.

Judy was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 11, 1930.  When she was 20, she met her future husband, Jerry Ledermann, on a blind date and was engaged three weeks later.  Jerry was then drafted into the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in California.  After six months, they were married on a 10-day leave in July of 1951.  She and Jerry were married for over 60 years before his passing in 2011.

Jerry and Judy moved to California from Wisconsin in 1961, with their three children.  Two more were born in California.  Judy lovingly dedicated her adult, married life to her husband and five children.  When all the children were in school and grown, she held a number of positions, including working with the Apple Valley School District, The Better Business Bureau, The Clothes Tree and served on the Resident Council at Samaritan Village and was a Hospice volunteer.  Over five decades, Judy was also involved with her husband in many community service events with Kiwanis, including the Special Olympics.  Judy also enjoyed so many church activities over many years.  One of her favorite pastimes was playing Rummikub with her friends at Samaritan Village along with a number of other card games like 'Hand and Foot'.  Judy also liked to write short stories about her family and wrote over 100 in the span of a decade.  Judy had a passion for cooking and her family loved to eat the many dishes she made for them.

As empty-nesters, Judy and Jerry traveled all around the United States including Alaska and Hawaii.  One of their special overseas trips as retirees was traveling to the Holy Land.  They loved visiting their children and their grandchildren.  She was very detail-oriented and documented all of their trips and enjoyed journaling her daily activities.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and one great-grandchild.  She is survived by her five children: Terry Immel, the oldest, lives in Texas and her four other children all live in California---Jerith Harrold, Noel Ledermann, Mary Sanchez and Steven Ledermann.  Judy also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
