Obituary

Kevin Scott McCully passed away peacefully at his home on August 25, 2025 after a courageous battle with a long illness.  He was born on May 2, 1960, in Lancaster, California.  In 1967, he and his family moved to Fresno when his father, Clyde C. McCully, became President of Fresno City College. Kevin remained in Fresno for the rest of his life, where he built lasting friendships and deep community ties.

He graduated from Bullard High School and went on to attend Fresno City College, where he earned associate degrees in Liberal Arts and Computer Drafting and Design. Kevin worked in Student Services at both Fresno City College and Fresno State University. He retired from Fresno State in 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Yuuki, his children Dylan (Rachael) McCully and Emily (Josh) Santos, and his three beautiful granddaughters, Sophia, Charlotte, and Isabella. He is also survived by his brothers, Brian (Marty) McCully and Erik (Debbie) McCully, his sister Amanda Capin, and many nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Betty Jo McCully, his brother-in-law Philip Capin, and his granddaughter Adeline Santos.

Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family and his pet rabbits, working in his woodshop, and hiking in the Mojave with his brother Brian. Kevin valued the Arts; he was exceptionally creative and was always working on a new project. He had deep convictions and moral integrity. He was a good listener, sensitive, and kind.

His brilliant humor and quick wit will truly be missed. He will always be remembered for the way he laughed, and made his family laugh, during each and every episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

Kevin was a devoted and loving son, brother, husband, and father. He was a much-loved member of the family and will be deeply missed.  Having fought the good fight, Kevin may now rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at All Nations Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1135 E. Alluvial Avenue, Fresno, with a reception to follow at the church.
