Lucia Louise Haroutunian "Lucylle" December 24, 1928 – December 2, 2021
Fresno, California – Lucylle Haroutunian, at the age of 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 2, 2021. She was born on December 24, 1928, in Tulare, California to Simon and RoseMary Boghosian. Growing up, she and her family lived in Tulare and Sanger; they eventually settled in Selma, California, where her father purchased acreage and became a grape farmer. Lucylle graduated from Selma High School in 1947 and worked on the ranch with her father, picking grapes and driving the tractor. She was a very hard worker. One of her childhood memories was in the third grade when her parents took her to the dentist, not her favorite thing to do. Knowing this, her sweet mother gave her a doll; Lucylle was "so happy!" Her testimony of attending a tent revival service during her youth and being prayed over and healed of her hearing loss was nothing short of a miracle from God. She married Harry Haroutunian in 1951; Lucylle worked at various packing houses and they later moved to San Franciso, living there for nine years. They had two children, Lee and JoyMarie. Lucylle and her two children returned to Fresno where, as a single mother, she raised her children in a loving and happy home. Lucylle loved gardening, sewing, cooking, wood working and photography. She loved to draw and, with no formal training, could play the piano. Her home was always open to family and friends where she regularly shared meals, Armenian coffee and her special dose of unconditional love, acceptance and encouragement. With a twinkle in her eyes when she smiled and a dash of humor, she was generous beyond measure, kind, smart and always positive. She was loved by all and many of her friends considered her their surrogate mother or grandmother. She had company daily and loved playing the card game Skip-Bo while drinking Armenian coffee with family and friends. Her love of picture-taking of family and friends was well known, culminating in over 200 photo albums. She gave gifts of pictures to family and friends at her favorite time of year, Christmas. Her grandchildren, Brandon and Hannah, loved and adored her; they were the light of her life. They have amazing memories of grandma's house. From going downtown on the bus and going to thrift stores, to playing in the backyard with the neighborhood kids, grandma's house was their favorite place to be. In June of 2021, Lucylle became a great grandmother to Wesley James Thompson. When she spent time with baby Wesley, her face lit up and she cherished every moment with him. Her family praises the Lord for her long life and Lucylle's example of Christ's love. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children. Her family is so very thankful for those who provided for her care during the past few years, especially her caregiver, Armenuhi Simonyan, which allowed for Lucylle to live in her home with Lee and their sweet dog Benji right up until Jesus called her home during a brief hospital stay. Lucylle's legacy lives on through her family and many friends. Lucylle is survived by son, Lee Haroutunian; daughter Joy and her husband Claude Thompson; grandson Brandon Thompson and his wife, Chelsey; granddaughter Hannah Thompson and her fiance, Dak Feaster; and great grandson Wesley James Thompson, along with her many nieces, nephews and cousins including her siblings, Dolores Davidian and Peter Boghosian. A Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at Northpark Community Church, 2297 E. Shepherd Ave., Fresno, CA with internment at Ararat-Masis Cemetery in Fresno, CA. Masks are encouraged. Funeral services conducted by Yost & Webb Funeral Home.
