Obituary

Mary Dolores Ordaz peacefully passed away at Kaiser Permanente in Fresno, California on the evening of August 2, 2021 at 5:30 pm. Mary was 79 years old. She was born in Fresno, California on October 27, 1941. She was the first child and first daughter of Martin and Carmen Luna. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan Ordaz of 33 years, her parents Martin M. Luna and Carmen L. Luna, and her sisters Elvira Briones and Carmen M. Estril.

She is survived by her children Deborah I. Thompson and Manuel Perez III, her granddaughter Melinda S. Munn and grandson in law James Michael Munn, sister Virgina Maldanado and brother Martin M. Luna jr.

She worked several jobs to provide for her children as a single mother. She worked at lightning records where she had a love for music and was able to identify music just by the sound of someone humming a tune. She also worked at packing houses, seat belt manufacturing, farm labor fields, and lastly for the Internal revenue service for 15 years. She retired from IRS as a bilingual clerk in 2016 to help take care of her late husband Juan Ordaz as he battled cancer.

She had many hobbies; she enjoyed making clothes for her kids and grandchild as well as making wedding cakes. She enjoyed helping raise her granddaughter, Mindy and being able to take her to school and watching her grow up and being there to support her in all of her life events. In her years of retirement she enjoyed spending time with her kids and granddaughter, watching the Hallmark Channel, but most importantly was the time she spent with her precious Bella, a german shepherd/lab mix.

Coming from a woman who never really liked dogs and definitely never wanted them in the house. Bella was her baby and she loved her so very much. Sometimes her children and grandchild would joke that sometimes she loved Bella more than them. As any trip she took with them she always asked the house sitter how her Bella was doing.
