Merry
Voda
February 20, 2022
Merry Vivian Voday
Merry passed from this life the morning of February 20 th after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Merry was born in Akron, OH, but has been a Californian since 1977. In 2002 Merry moved to Fresno, CA where she lived the remainder of her life.
Merry is survived by two children (and spouses): Elizabeth (Beth) Mendoza and Kerry Voda, son in law Ken Mendoza and Leilani Voda; Eight grandchildren: Rebecca, Josh, Zach, Ross, Derrick, Kylie, Eli, and Leia; and four great grandchildren: Emma, Claire, Joey, and Eliana. Merry was preceded in death by her
parents Fritz and Josephine, her brother Bob, her sister Lucille, and her husband Steve.
Merry began her life in Akron OH, where she lived with her two siblings Lucille and Bob. They were quite a bit older than she was making her the true baby of the family. The family would later move to MI, where she met her husband Steve after beginning college at MI state university where she studied to be a veterinarian. Merry had a true love for animals which she had all her life, but her dream to be a wife and mother was stronger than her career, so she left school to start a life with Steve. They had two children Beth and Kerry early in her marriage. Although the marriage only lasted 12 years, Merry remained married to Steve her entire life as she said she never met another man she loved as much as she loved Steve. In 1977 the family moved to CA where she remained the rest of her life. Merry worked in several different jobs as a butcher, a real estate agent, and lastly in logistics where she spent most of her career which she is most known for. Merry was very well known by carriers all over the country and was well loved by all. Her quirky sense of humor, and her knowledge of freight earned her respect, loyalty, and love in the industry. Merry loved adventure and in her younger years she would compete in races and would spend hours practicing running. She loved to go hang gliding off the Monterey coast. You would see her on the craziest roller coasters with absolutely no fear! She was probably best known for her love of food, which she loved to share with everyone. Merry was tireless in her dedication to help others. She was always willing to donate her money, time, and energy to a worthy cause. She served on the Ruiz for Kids foundation for many years, helping to bring scholarships to children in need. She was most known by her children, and grandchildren for her kindness and generosity to them all. Her presence in carving the turkey every year at Thanksgiving will be felt by everyone. Thank you for the gift of your life to us all.
