Nan Melkonian passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023. She was born to Paul and Mary Star on September 25, 1927, in Fresno, California. She had two older brothers, Robert and Roy. The family relocated to Oakland for work reasons. While growing up in the Bay Area, she worked at I. Magnin.

In 1953, Nan married Kenneth Melkonian. Together, they had three children and raised their family in Fresno. They remained happily married until Kenneth's passing in 1985. Despite the difficult loss, Nan's strong spirit and faith helped her forge ahead and live a full and independent life.

Nan enjoyed traveling, including with her nephew Richard and niece Marguerite to Canada. She spent plenty of relaxing time at the family cabin in Shaver Lake. She was an active member of both the St. Paul Armenian Church and St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, including the Ladies Society for both. She was also a member of the California Armenian Home Guild and the Order of the Eastern Star. She relished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nan is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and husband. She is survived by son Kenneth and his wife Lisa, daughter Kathy and her husband Jon, and son Alan and his wife Kathy; grandchildren Andrew, Gregory, and Taylor; great-grandchildren James and Madilyn; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family would like to thank caregivers Susana Sargisyan and Anait Vardapetian, as well as everyone else that was a part of Nan's life.

May our Lord grant rest to His good servant Nan Melkonian and remember her on the great day of His judgment.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, 5:00pm-7:00pm with a home service at 6:00pm at Yost & Webb Chapel.

A private burial will be held.
