On Thursday, June 1st, 2023, Officer Ana E. Chavarin of the Fresno Police Department passed away in her home.
A native resident of Salinas, CA, Ana graduated from North Salinas High School in 2001 and attended Hartnell College, where she received an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice. She then transitioned to Fresno State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Criminology in 2007.
Ana's commitment to serving and protecting others blossomed into a lifelong career when she accepted an internship with the Hanford Police Department in 2008. She then graduated from the police academy in 2009 and joined the Fresno Police Department shortly after.
During her 15 years of dedicated service, Ana was a detective for the Domestic Violence Unit, Missing Persons Unit, Child Abuse Unit, and VCIT. Her final call sign was 6Charles11. Through her work, Ana worked closely with vulnerable individuals to give them a voice and help them reach resolutions in their investigations. Ana's presence was a staple in the Fresno community.
Ana Chavarin was also a devoted daughter, loyal sister, and loving friend. Those who knew her will remember her bright smile, generosity, and adventurous spirit. She is survived by her loving mother, Maria Chavarin, father, Pascual Chavarin, youngest sister Gabriella Chavarin, and oldest sister Sylvia.
