June 13, 1964 – June 28, 2025
Pastor David Neil Rutherford
David Neil Rutherford was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 13, 1964 to Dean and Pattie Rutherford. He was the youngest of five children.
David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Known for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and generous heart, he touched the lives of all who knew him.
David was passionate about Jesus, the Church, the Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. He was known for his sense of humor and making people laugh, but more importantly consumed with pointing people to Jesus through passionate preaching and heartfelt connection.
He followed in the footsteps of generations before him and became a preacher. He preached God's Word faithfully for over 40 years, 30 of which were spent at CrossCity Christian Church in Fresno, California. David had successful ministries in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri before coming to California. He was a graduate of Ozark Christian College, where he played basketball, preached in local churches, and met his wife, Suanne.
David officiated hundreds of weddings and funerals. He shared the gospel to countless people over the years, and baptized thousands during his years of ministry.
He is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Suanne Rutherford, his children Drew Rutherford and wife Aubrey; Zach Rutherford and wife Rachel, and his 5 grandchildren Mackenzie, Harley, Judah, David, and Scottie who were the light of his life.
He is also survived by his 4 siblings, Dreama (Curt) Ayers, Deborah (Tom) Trotter, Dudley (Renee) Rutherford, and Dean (Bernie) Rutherford. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Dean and Pattie Rutherford.
David Neil Rutherford's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. He will be deeply missed.
