Perry Anson
Riddle
July 25, 1959 – November 22, 2023
Perry Anson Riddle, a dedicated family man and a pillar of kindness, has left an enduring legacy that transcends the boundaries of time. His profound love for his family was the cornerstone of his existence, defining him as a true family man. Perry's life was a testament to the joy derived from simple pleasures, shared moments, and the indelible bonds of love that tie generations together.
Perry's optimism, fearlessness, and love for humanity were the guiding lights of his journey. His humility and genuine affection for others emanated from the depths of his heart, leaving a lasting impression of loving kindness to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
A man of incredible kindness and patience, Perry loved with his entire being. His smile and laughter had the ability to brighten even the darkest days, like a lighthouse in the dark storms of life he would help guide you to the shores away from the storm.
To see the world through Perry's eyes meant focusing on the positive, embracing a perpetual smile, and trusting in one's senses. He loved his grandchildren. He would spend quality time with them, showering them with genuine love and attention, creating memories that will endure in their hearts forever.
His heart extended beyond the family circle, embracing a selflessness and generosity that touched the lives of many. Perry was always ready to put others before himself, seeking ways to make the world a better place for those around him. His warm greetings and infectious smile welcomed everyone into his world. He knew no strangers, only potential friends.
During Perry's journey he had a venture into entrepreneurship. Even in business his goal was always to "replace himself" and teach others anything and everything he had. What a contrast to the business world. Most would teach, make yourself indispensable, irreplaceable, and secure your position. Perry's approach was quite the opposite. Perry wasn't afraid of being replaced, rather, he was focused on lifting others up and hoping to elevate them. It didn't matter if you were high up a corporate ladder or doing the most basic task, Perry would see you and want to help. I have several experiences with Perry in this way and one in particular I'd like to share.
Together with his beloved wife, Victoria, they owned a car dealership, where their commitment to helping others shone brightly. Offering a selection of hand picked vehicles, they hoped to help others by offering a good vehicle, something that pretty much everyone needs. There was an employee that was in trouble. The employee called upon his help, as the employee had no one else to turn to. It was late into the night and Perry, despite his own early morning commitments, without hesitation stepped in to assist. Together, they pushed an 800 lb motorcycle for miles in the dark, uphill, until he was able to get home. This embodies Perry's willingness to shoulder the burdens of others, even when the difficulties were of their own making.
Perry was a man devoted to his convictions. His deep devotion to following God was reflected in his daily actions. He would set his devotion to God above all. No matter how it made him look to others, the challenges, or the costs, he gladly paid. No one could question his steadfast conviction to follow and do what he felt was pleasing in the Lord's eyes.
A passionate gardener, Perry cultivated a vibrant array of flowers, fruiting trees and vines. The garden, adorned with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, peaches, pomegranates, plums, apricots, grapes, avacados, oranges, lemons, tomatoes, sweet leaf, pansy blossoms, dahlias, lilies and more. It was a haven for his grandchildren to play tag, and hide-n-go-seek with their "Pap Pap" and revel in the wonders of nature, picking and enjoying the ripe fruit while surrounded by hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies and bees among the flourishing flowers. Life in Perry's garden was a celebration of love, family and the beauty of life in the natural world.
Perry was growing all of these in containers to be planted in the ground once the family moved to their forever home.
He was looking ahead, preparing for the paths to come. He was focused on finding ways to improve the future of his family. He even started an ambitious project a few years ago. He would collect seeds from the best and his favorite lemon and grapefruit trees. He then, with love in his heart, diligently sprouted them. Over 1000 seedlings were sown this way. His dream was to have land to plant them, let them take root, grow, and provide for his family's future and the generations to come
This is who Perry was. A man who would sow seeds of loving kindness into those around him, watering them with encouragement, celebrating growth along the way, and enjoying the sweet fruits of love.
Perry Anson Riddle will be remembered not just for the joy he found in family, gardening, and life's simple pleasures but also for his unwavering kindness, selflessness, and willingness to help others in their times of need. Perry's spirit lives on in the hearts he touched, and his legacy of love and compassion will endure for generations to come. Never forgotten, always loved.
