Philip Nathaniel Sykes (aka, Inky & Pumpkin) was born to the union of Samuel & Ruby Sykes, July 10, 1947, in Fresno; Ca. Philip received his early education at Fresno Colony, Irwin Jr. High, graduating from Washington Union High School.

Philip joined the U.S. Army, serving in the 2 ^nd Airborne, and was honorably discharged as Sargent. He worked for over 30 years for the Pipe Fitters Union, Local 246, also leaving many friends.

For many years Philip was a member of the Fresno Black Sky Club and he enjoyed going to and watching football, NASCAR racing, baseball, and spending time with his many friends.

Philip married the former Mary C. Kumar Crozier and to their union he had a step-son, James Easterling; Philip was blessed with three (3) loving daughters of his own: Charlene Yvette Sykes, Tonya Renee Sykes and Brandy Lorraine Sykes; after his brother died, Philip remained close to Samuel (Boonie) son, his nephew, Adrian Sykes.

Philip Nathaniel Sykes departed this life Saturday, October 15 ^th , at the age of 75 years; Philip leaves to cherish his memory, 3 daughters, Charlene Yvette Sykes and Tonya Renee Sykes both of Fresno and Brandy Lorraine Sykes of Los Angeles, Ca. Step-son James Easterling of Fresno; 2 nephews Adrian Sykes (Nastassia) of Reno, Nev., and Christopher Easterling of Fresno, CA; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
