Queenie
Marsoobian
January 6, 1932 – January 24, 2026
Queenie Marsoobian was the third and youngest daughter of Dikran and Emast Kavoukjian, born on January 6, 1932. She was born on Armenian Christmas and shared her birthdate with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To our family, Queenie truly was an angel here on earth.
Queenie cherished her mom and dad and often told us about what wonderful parents they were and how kind they were. You could always find the three sisters together at all the church events and they talked every day on the phone. Hasmig, her older sister called Queenie sissy and never stopped being her big sister, right up to Queenies last hour here on earth.
She grew up in Fresno and attended Winchell Elementary School, Longfellow Junior High, and Roosevelt High School, Class of 1950. Those years meant so much to her. She made lifelong friends, proudly played varsity tennis, and later stayed closely connected through her Rough Rider high school reunion committee. Queenie never missed a monthly lunch or reunion until she no longer could. Those friendships meant the world to her.
In 1960, Queenie married Arsen Marsoobian. Together they welcomed their first son, Bradley, in 1962, followed closely by Lori and then Bryan. Arsen preceded her in death in 2021.
Her Armenian heritage was a source of great pride. She loved growing up in Fresno's Armenian Town and remained closely connected to her community throughout her life. As a teen, Queenie was a member of the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) and a member of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church. She was a devoted member Holy Trinity Ladies Guild her whole adult life, where she formed countless lifelong friendships.
Beyond her Armenian community, Queenie also had a true heart for service. She proudly served as Board President of the Les Amies Guild from 1974 to 1975.
Queenie loved her family and friends fiercely, openly and without hesitation. She truly never met a stranger, and you did not have to be a close friend for Queenie to care about you. She made friends everywhere she went, at the grocery store, at Macy's, Gottschalks, Weinstocks, the local boutiques (she liked to shop), the bank, the dry cleaners, and behind just about every counter. She remembered names, kids and family details, because to Queenie, everyone mattered. And if you were her friend, you could count on a birthday card, anniversary phone call or thoughtful check-in. Her kindness and thoughtfulness knew no bounds.
Queenie, also known as "Ginger" to many, was a kind, sweet, loyal, and loving Christian mom, grandmother to six, great-grandmother to six, aunt to many and a sister. Her family was her world. She could be found at every baseball game, football game, dance recital, track meet, fashion show, graduation, and rehearsal, if it was happening, Queenie was there. As her body and memory began to fail, she would ask to watch a baseball or football game on television, hoping to spot her son Bryan playing.
With her failing memory, Queenie often thought her mom and dad were with her and did not remember they passed away. There were times when we would call and ask what she is doing and she would say she is making lunch for herself and momma. Or she would let us know her mom was sleeping in the other room and we needed to talk softly. When she was living at the Armenian Home in her last year, she would ask us about them but would say to not let them drive out that far. Caring for others never failed her, even while her memory did. On her last night, in her sleep she was heard saying, "Arsen I am coming".
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dikran and Emast Kavoukjian; her sister Arpie Boghosian; husband Arsen Marsoobian; many of her closest cherished friends and family members, all who were there to welcome her home.
Queenie is survived by her children, Brad Marsoobian; Lori Thomas; Bryan Marsoobian and his wife Julie. She was the proud grandmother to Taylor O'Rorke and husband Ryan; Morgan Bitter and husband James; Nicholas Marsoobian and fiancé, Ashley Kuester; Sydney Marsoobian; Renny Thomas and fiancé Haley Bartel; and Matthew Marsoobian. She was also blessed with six great-grandsons, Brooks, Beckett and Beau Bitter and Quinn, Kellen and Wren O'Rorke, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Queenie is also survived by her oldest sister Hasmig Aaronian.
Queenie's love, warmth, generosity and joyful spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest in Paradise sweet Queenie.
