Ralph Bonner Boel
March 21, 1940 – September 8, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Ralph Bonner Boel announces his peaceful passing on September 8, 2025, at the age of 85.
Known to his loved ones simply as Bonner, he was born on March 21, 1940, in Shafter, California, to Helen (Albright) Boel and Ralph Boel. A proud son of a small town, Bonner attended Shafter High School and Bakersfield College before earning his business degree from California State University, Fresno.
Bonner cherished the simple joys of small-town life, cruising around in classic cars, dove hunting, and fishing alongside his father. He was loyal and warm-hearted, maintaining lifelong friendships from childhood and college that enriched his life for decades.
In 1966, while working for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, Bonner met the love of his life, Deanna "Dee" Ross. They married in June 1967, and soon after, Bonner adopted Dee's daughter Vicki, raising her as his own. The family grew again in December 1968 with the birth of their son, Bryan, completing their loving household.
Bonner was a devoted and hands-on father. Whether it was tucking his kids in at night, calming them through an illness, or simply being present, his love and steadiness never wavered.
He enjoyed a long and successful career as an underwriter in the insurance industry, where he built strong, lasting friendships that carried into his retirement years.
A passionate sports fan, Bonner especially loved college basketball and football. He and Dee were proud Fresno State Boosters, faithfully attending Bulldog games and traveling across the country to cheer on their team.
Nothing, however, brought Bonner more joy than his grandchildren. He was their most faithful supporter, attending countless soccer, baseball, and softball games, often traveling to away games to be there in the stands.
Bonner and Dee became members of Crosscity Church in Fresno and served there for many years. Bonner was an usher, serving communion on occasion. His faith of Our Lord grew during this time at Crosscity. Bonner confessed his faith and called upon Our Savior many times for comfort during his life.
Bonner was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Helen Boel, his beloved wife Deanna, his sister Brenda Roche, and his grandson Jonah Boel.
He is survived by his loving family: Daughter Vicki Rodgers and her husband Jim, Son Bryan Boel and his wife Stephanie. Grandchildren Chris Rodgers, Courtney Dela Torre, Jaxon Boel, and Jordyn Boel.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Patty Kelly, Bonner's faithful companion, for her prayers, care, and unwavering support during his illness. Special thanks also to the compassionate team at Nancy Hinds Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bonner's memory to:
Hinds Lifecare (Nancy Hinds Hospice)
2490 W. Shaw Ave., Ste. 101
Fresno, CA 93711
The family will have a graveside service and reception to celebrate Bonner's passing.
Bonner lived a life full of love, laughter, and loyalty. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
