She obtained an associate degree in nursing from Fresno City College, and bachelor's and master's in nursing, from CSU Fresno. Rebecca's long health career included roles at Valley Medical Center in acute care, school nursing, and as a primary care family nurse practitioner. She retired in 2014 from the Student Health Center, CSU Fresno.

She was a devoted member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fresno, where she was active in music ministry (choir, bells, organ), Sunday school, VBS, Church Council, and numerous committees. Rebecca enjoyed quilting, playing cello, puzzles, fishing, hiking, and games of all types. She cherished the times she could spend with her grandchildren.
