Robert Galen
Stimmel
August 1, 1948 – March 25, 2021
Robert (Bob) Galen Stimmel, age 72, passed away after a six-month battle with liver cancer on Thursday March 25, 2021 in Clovis, CA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mary (Temple) Stimmel. He is survived by his wife Sherry (Jones); sister Rosemary Leslie and her husband Kent; daughter Karen Johnson and her husband Jarod; son Kevin Stimmel and his wife Cayla; grandchildren Allison, Luke, Leilah, Landon, and Dawson.
On August 1, 1948, he was born in Fresno, CA and he graduated from Hoover High School in 1966. He served four years in the United States Navy as a member of the U.S.S. Dixon's (AS 37) Shipfitter Shop during the Vietnam War. Bob met his wife Sherry at the Clovis Rodeo Dance and they married in 1976. His career started with work in welding and manufacturing. He finished his career working as general contractor with his business, Pro-Fix, where he used his skills in maintenance and repair. Along with his family and friends, he spent many summers camping and taking the boat out for skiing and fun.
His most enjoyed activities were spending time with his five grandchildren and building his model railroad. He often spent his time watching the San Francisco Giants, Madera Speedway races, and Nascar. His passion was volunteering as the electrician every Saturday at Habitat for Humanity, and he received a Volunteer of the Year award from the Community Housing Council of Fresno. He will be missed by his Habitat family and the volunteers that he spent 25 years working alongside to build houses for families in the community.
Kind, gentle, and always willing to offer his help, those who saw his Pro-Fix truck pull-up were always relieved to know that their problems would be solved. His attention to detail and constant aim for perfection allowed him to serve and train others in skilled work.
On October 11, 2020, Bob publicly professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized by his son and son-in-law. Although he is missed by many, they are comforted knowing that he is now at home with his Lord and Savior.
