Rojelio -
Granados
June 9, 1952 – March 25, 2021
Rojelio Granados died peacefully on March 25, 2021 in his home near Fresno, California.
Rojelio, known as Roy by friends and family, was born on June 9, 1952 in Mercedes, Texas to Salvador and Maria (Luz) Granados. His family moved to Malaga, California when Roy was 5 years old. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1970 and began working for Pacific Telephone (AT&T) in 1975. During his career, his advocacy for worker's rights and dedication to the labor movement led to 12 years as a Union Officer and President for CWA Local 9408.
Roy was a caring and generous father. Many who knew Roy would say that he served as a mentor -- always giving advice and offering guidance. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing ping pong (he was excellent), and caring for others. He also took great pride in caring for his home and hillside landscape.
He was preceded in death by his wife Debra Granados, father, mother, sister Mary Galindo, and brother Salvador Jr.
Roy is lovingly remembered by his son Derek, daughter Jessica, grandchildren Madison and Mia, and sisters, Rachel, Juanita, and Connie. He will also be dearly missed by his friends and colleagues at AT&T.
