Ruth Marie
Phillips
March 31, 1928 – April 7, 2022
Graveside burial services for Ruth Marie Phillips, 94, will be held Thursday, April 21 in Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, at 10:00 AM. Mrs. Phillips died peacefully at her home in Fresno on April 7, 2022. A native of Secaucus, NJ, shehad lived in Fresno for more than 47 years.
She was elected an honorary Member of the Fresno Numismatic Society, and was a member of the Visalia Coin Club at the
time of her death. She had also been president of the Pacific Coast Numismatic Society and the California Numismatic Association. She earned her BS degree at Central College in Pella, IA in 1950.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband S. Everett Phillips, her parents, John C. and Florence J. (Schubert) Ludwigsen, sister Doris G. (Ludwigsen) Atkins, brother John J. Ludwigsen, and nephew Jay J. Ludwigsen. She is survived by her niece Linda Ruth Atkins who was her caregiver at the time of her death, eight other nieces, one nephew and three stepchildren.
Over the years, she filled her non-working hours with her needlepoint, cooking, canning, sewing, and especially tending her gorgeous front-yard rose garden.
In her professional life, Ruth had worked for, among others, Eastern Airlines in New York, L&H Paints of San Francisco, and the California Granny Smith Association of Fresno.
She will be sorely missed by all her neighbors and friends, especially those from the various coin clubs with which she had been so active.
