Sam Davis
Adams
August 20, 1956 – January 28, 2023
Sam Adams was born on August 20th, 1956 to Bessie McKray and AJ Adams in Shelby Mississippi. Sam is the seventh child of nine children, with
five brothers; AJ, Gene, Hobby, Jerry, and Terry, and three sisters: Kate, Ruby, and Rose. Sam grew up in a loving very tightly knit family.
Sam lived a complete and rewarding life, his quick wit, and warm personality, never allowed him to meet a stranger. He always gave a kind
word, or encouraging advice to anyone he met. Sam was a distinguished veteran who honorably served his country as an officer for more than two
decades, and retired from the military as a Major, earning many commendations and awards. Sam's success didn't stop there, he went on to earn a Masters Degree in business, an MBA, and followed that with another Masters Degree in Social-Work.
Sam's life experience and giving nature, eventually led him to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW. This field allowed Sam to help
many people along the way, and give back to his community through his work, and led him to employment with the Veterans Administration. Sam
would eventually retire from the VA, and go on and enjoy the latter years of his life with his wife Shirley Adams while settling down in Fresno, California.
Sam was diagnosed with dementia, and was called home to God after a long fought battle with this disease. He leaves behind a loving wife, Shirley
(Briggs) Adams, a daughter, Lauren (Adams) Voltz of Minnesota , and three step-sons; Carlos Anderson, of Fresno, Alvin Dillard, of Fresno, and Aaron Dillard, of Fresno, along with several siblings, and many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.
Sam will be greatly missed by all. May he rest in paradise.
