Obituary

Shelley Lynn D'Arcy (Hutchins) passed away unexpectedly on Wed. June 16th at her workplace in Fresno, Ca. She was born April 19th, 1956 to the late Howard Hutchins and Dixie Hutchins. Shelley had an idyllic "Wonder Years" type childhood in suburbia, Redford Michigan, (near Detroit) along with her older brother Jeff Hutchins (late Judy), Kim Brannon (Todd), and Ami Kase (Mark). The family moved to Freeport Grand Bahamas in the late 60's, followed by moves to Dayton Ohio and Knoxville TN. Demonstrating her courage and adventurous spirit, at age 20 Shelley moved across the country to San Francisco to begin her career in health care management. Shortly thereafter she was smitten by the Irish tenor voice of the love of her life, Kevin D'Arcy (married 33 years.) After testing the waters for several years in the Seattle, Washington and Sonoma, California areas, they settled in Clovis, CA. -- a great place to raise their children. Fiona, Meggy and Conor D'Arcy, whom Shelley loved so dearly, are her most precious legacy and the one of which she was most proud. Having a strong work ethic, intelligence, and natural people skills, Shelley rose through the ranks at Kaiser Permanente, eventually becoming a Director of the Revenue Cycle for the Central Valley. She loved her work but was looking forward to her imminent retirement and relocation to Tennessee or Kentucky to be near family. The light in this world has dimmed without her presence in it. She leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of her family, but we know she is with her Father sharing a joke and a story, hugging many family members and a host of pets who went on before her. May God grant her everlasting peace and joy.
Shelley relished maintaining and improving her home's gardens and landscaping; nearly every weekend she could be found trimming trees, hoeing weeds, sculpting bushes, planting new green things, and then sitting back to admire the beauty of it all. The simple but deep enjoyment she garnered from the accomplishments of her work was integral to all facets of Shelley's life. Therefore, her family agrees that an outdoor service at her home would have been Shelley's wish. A service has been scheduled for July 17 at 9 am. Since it will no doubt be quite warm, feel free to wear comfortable clothing, e.g., polo shirts and shorts/khakis for men and the equivalent for women.
